Leads (non-VIP users) consistently provided feedback about the confusion regarding promotions at checkout. When users added products qualifying for another promotion, our system automatically switched to the new promotion without informing them. This issue caused high call volumes and negative reviews on social media. As a result, our CTO prioritized fixing this problem in two weeks.

Solution

I designed an interactive promotion module within the checkout process to inform customers of their current introductory offer selection and suggest better promotional combinations for the best price. This resulted in reduced inbound calls to member care and increased overall acquisition.

I hired 20 participants on Maze to quickly test their understanding of the promotion from the homepage to checkout. The test successfully confirmed that 100% of participants could complete the task.

I initially presented the test results to my squad to share insights from the prototypes and enable informed team decisions. Later, I shared these insights with stakeholders to gain their buy-in and ensure alignment and support for the proposed changes.
